Some information.
We have discovered that every second 200 kilograms are thrown away every second, 299 millions tons of plastics were produced in 2013, a 4%more than in 2012, around 267 differents animal species have suffered from entanglement and ingestion of plastic debris and more than 100.000 marine mammals die and almost a million of birds and fishes per year and some Universities estimates from plastic degradation at sea has been ranged from 450 to 1.000 years.

Plastic has been found in more than 60% of all seabirds and in 100% of sea turtle species, which confuse plastic with food. When animals ingest plastic, they can cause life-threatening problems, including reduced physical fitness, nutrient absorption and feeding efficiency, all vital to survival.

There are five massive plastic patches in the oceans around the world. These huge concentrations of plastic waste cover large swaths of the ocean; the one between California and Hawaii is the size of the state of Texas.
It is expected that the amount of plastic in the ocean will multiply by ten by 2020 and by 2050 there will be more plastic in the oceans than fish (in weight).
The plastic is in the ocean up to 11 km deep, which means that synthetic fibers have contaminated even the most remote places on Earth.

There is more plastic than natural dams on the sea surface of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, which means that the organisms that feed in this area probably have plastic as an important component of their diets. For example, sea turtles caught in the fisheries that operate in and around the patch can have up to 74% (dry weight) of their diets composed of oceanic plastics. Many fish that humans consume, such as brown trout, cisco and perch, have ingested plastic microfibers at some point.
